Our pups were BAER tested yesterday. We were so delighted to affirm what I believed all along, all 7 puppies are hearing. Not just hearing, but all 7 are bilaterally hearing which is just great news for the dam and sire’s stats, but also simplifies training questions for their pups.

All 7 were mostly good for the lite procedure (see the YouTube video below for more info), with one or two needing to stretch a bit and then redo that ear, but it was generally due to the stimulus that they heard. They were all good for a bite check, boys all got checked for their testicles and everything was just good news all day.

We celebrated with a little puppy run outside with all the pups in the backyard with Marty when we got up to 38* and I had my son help me get some cool slo-mo videos of each pup and cuddle pictures with me. I’ll post them shortly.

I’m getting regularly asked if I plan on keeping a pup, and the short answer is yes, but whom it will be isn’t decided yet as we still have temperament testing tomorrow when they are 7 weeks old.

As I like to coach my kids and others taking professional advice from me in our business, I think it’s great to look ahead and have a plan, but don’t forget to live in the moment, too. Celebrate those little things and keep moving forward, but do take a sec and enjoy the relief that success provides.
