Day 12!

February 16, 2024Today the neonates graduated to a bigger pen as I woke up this morning with 4 of the little sleep terrorists broken out of their whelping pen. They were snuggled up to my wool socks, crocs, and sweatshirt next to my Japanese futon bed – on the floor in the puppy room. I woke Ruby up and said, “What the heck?! Why are your babies out of their pen? When did this happen?” Ruby looked at me like, “What? They were quiet when they got out. I thought you wanted to sleep?!” I gently lifted them all up and put them back, closing the lucite door this time, and the little party animals slept through the relocation. I slept more fitfully last night than I have in the last two weeks. Everyone seems to be getting into a good groove and sleeping more restfully. Ruby is getting mother-wise and she tiptoes around them instead of nosing them to make sure they are all ok. They let her know if they are not, she’s figured out. During waking hours, all puppies are all walking around and everyone’s eyes are open and they discovered that the warm fuzzy lumps are their pals. There are a few barkers – reacting to noises already! A couple of the pups copy their mum and it is pretty comical. Their pigment is coming in nicely and I’m amazed at the variety. They are all getting some snuggle time a few times a day, and we are still diligently doing the Early Neurological Stimulation with them, too. Personalities will start to emerge more and I’ll work on capturing some videos in the next week. I took some new photos today and tried my hand at some Adobe Express work above. I’ll post more individual photos tomorrow. If you’d like to comment, please do. You will need to create an account but its easy to do that and the info doesn’t get shared anywhere.
